At CodeWink Labs, we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Gist Genie, a Chrome extension developed by CodeWink Labs, handles data when you use our service. Gist Genie is designed to summarize web content, helping you save time while reading.

1. Data We Process
Gist Genie accesses text content from the active webpage you choose to summarize. This content is sent to the Gemini API, a third-party service provided by Google, to generate summaries. We do not store or retain this webpage content after the summarization process is complete.

2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or store personally identifiable information (e.g., name, email, address), health information, financial data, authentication information, personal communications, location, web history, or user activity (e.g., clicks, keystrokes). Gist Genie does not track your browsing history or monitor your behavior.

3. Local Storage
Gist Genie uses Chrome storage to save data locally on your device, such as summary history or user preferences. This data is not transmitted to us or any third party and remains on your device.

4. Third-Party Services

• Gemini API: Webpage content is sent to the Gemini API for summarization. This data is processed by Google under their privacy policy (available at https://policies.google.com/privacy).

• Bitly API: If you use the "Share Summary" feature, the summary text is sent to Bitly to generate a short URL. Bitly’s privacy policy applies (available at https://bitly.com/pages/privacy).

• Affiliate Links: Gist Genie includes affiliate links (e.g., Surfshark VPN). Clicking these links may lead to the affiliate partner tracking your activity under their privacy policy. We do not collect personal data through these links.

5. Future Features
If we introduce a subscription model, payment data will be handled by a third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe or Chrome Web Store payments) and will not be stored by us. We may expand local storage usage (e.g., for summary history), but this data will remain on your device.

6. Data Security
We do not store your data on our servers, so there’s no risk of a data breach from our end. Data processed by third-party services (e.g., Gemini API) is subject to their security practices.

7. Children’s Privacy
Gist Genie is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
